On behalf of Martin Eggleton, Club Secretary, and myself,Albie Somerset, President of Priory Bowls Club, it is with the deepest sadness I have to report the passing of Len Chubb following a long illness on Friday 12th November.

Lennie or "Chubbie" was Priory Bowls Club, he was Club Secretary for more years than I can remember and kept the club going being secretary and treasurer combined and President during the 90s, knowing Len he was probably doing both posts that year. It was only in the later years that we managed to talk him into relinquishing some of the tasks to give him a break on top of this Lennie did sterling work for the P& D on behalf of bowlers around the city and local area.

Sadly his later years were dogged with illness and he reluctantly stopped playing as he was to spend more and more time in hospital or housebound at home. Len's name will live on at Priory Bowls Club with the Len Chubb 7s competition run every year in his honour.

I'm sure all members will join Martin & myself in sending our condolenses to Len's family.

Priory Bowls Club meant a lot to Lennie and Lennie meant a lot to Priory Bowls Club.

Len's funeral will be held at Portchester crematorium on Wednesday 24th November at 3:00PM followed by his wake which will be held at Alexandra bowling club, Northern Parade, PO2 9PB.

I’m sure Len would love for you all to attend.

Rest In Peace Chubbie
